Messing Around/Designs

So I hope you have all had a good bank holiday monday so far, I've pretty much been having a very lazy day with photoshop and my itunes. I took some pictures of my painting and decided to mess around with them a little bit in photoshop and try and make some cool designs out of them. This kinda stemmed because I wanted to make a new header for my blog and though, "why not mess around with the paintings I did". So I set myself up with my itunes and just went for it.
Once I've got some money in the bank I plan on getting some tshirts/tote bags/postcards printed as a tester to see how they look. If anyone knows of any really good, not too expensive sites which maybe you've used in the past and are really good quality that you don't mind sharing with me (Just leave a comment or something) that would be fantastic. These are just a few of them I did this afternoon;

The header for my blog
I'd love to hear what you think about them, I'm still working on a few more but these are just a few of the finished ones. I'm going to try and do a few more experimental things with a few of them but at the moment I'm really liking the simplicity of them. Again I would appreciate you thoughts, criticism, praises etc it would really help me with my development.

Painting Part 3&4

So this evening I decided to finished off the little series I was doing and these are basically some photographs I took whilst doing them. I'd love to know what you think about them, if they work or not, If this is something I should do more of etc. Any kind of criticism is welcome!

The Final Four

Painting Part 2

I decided that I did want to make a little series out of these wood/hair image things and decided to actually spend my doing something productive and doing another one.

I again started out by drawing it up in a layout pad as I'm not very confident to draw straight on to the wood incase I make a huge mistake and then transferred the image on the wood by doing the ol'school flip and rub method and then went over the lines on the wood. For me it really helps.

I decided half way through painting that I was going to just paint all of the triangles black as trying to make a pattern with it wasn't really working out very well and because there are quite a few marks on the wood it just looked really odd. I much prefer it now.

The two final painting. I'm thinking about possibly doing three or four of them as I think they would look good hanging up next to one another.
Let me know what you think of them please, would be greatly appreciated.

A spot of late night/early morning painting

Now you would think being up at 3am painting is a strange time to be painting and you would be very right but weirdly enough for me its become a perfect time for arts and crafts. I don't know why but the creative juices always flow so much better at night. Anyway I decided that I wanted to do a spot of painting as I haven't really done any in a while, so a found a piece of wood I had laying around, drew up a little something and started to paint. I've also been getting my way through the rest of season 3 of Community (which I have now finished) and watching Miss Pettigrew lives for a day. Wasn't a particularly great or memorable film but I was quite content having it on in the background whilst I painted.

The finished painting
I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out actually, some of the lines could be a little neater but I don't have a greatly steady hand when it comes to painting small lines but I don't think it looks too shabby. I quite like the idea of doing a couple of these and possibly hanging them up in my house or room. I might also think about doing one of these painting over some coloured paint or other textures on the background.

Vinyl Bowls

So today I did actually do something creative and this time in the form of making my own bowls out of Vinyl. The other day my friend Chloe said how she had just melted a few of them and was messing around with them and it really got me in the mood to try it for myself. I'd seen a few pictures floating around the internet of it before and always assumed it was really difficult, but after watching a few tutorials on youtube this morning I realised how quick and easy it actually was.
Luckily my dad had a few old vinyls he didn't want anymore so I used a few of those but they can easily be bought at any charity shop for a few pounds. I took some photos as a sort of step by step of what I did.
I made about six bowls and I'm so happy with the way they have all turned out, especially as they were a first time try.

The final products!

I plan on giving some of these away as gifts to a few people and the rest to use in my new flat which I'm really excited about moving in to. But thats another post for another day.

Holiday Post/Sziget

I am really bad at this blogging thing, its been nearly a month since I have posted anything so I thought I would do a little post a recent holiday to Budapest, Sziget festival. The festival was an 8 day festival and was honestly one of the best weeks of my life.

The music was incredible, the atmosphere was something that can only be experienced and  not explained and We met some of the most wonderful and lovely people you could imagine. I've only ever really been to one other European festival being Benicassim but I can already say that would never find a festival quite as amazing as Sziget.

We flew out on Monday 6th and returned back to England on the 14th.
These are just a few snaps from my camera as well as Mikaela and Rebecca's cameras.

On our first day in Budapest we spent the day at the local Baths and met this lovely group of guys who were on there travels and spend the evening hanging out and having dinner in the town. Such lovely people, each and every one of them.

One of the great things about Sziget, was the fact there were very little British people there.

The holiday was one of the most amazing experiences and I can't wait to go back in the years to come. Here is the website for Sziget if you want to watch any highlights online or find out any information about it. I would highly recommend that you do!.
