End of uni/Home/Update

So, I manages to survive my first year of university and now I can begin to enjoy the summer and all this time off. This also giving me lots of free time to start getting stuck into some new projects, which I'm really excited about. Today was my first day back home and I decided to get my camera out and just mess around with it a little. Its been a while since I've actually taken any pictures so I though I'd go into the garden and see what I could find. I'm not going to lie, it was difficult as our garden somewhat resembles a junk heap so I started to take focus on the cat. There nothing special but I just wanted to get back into contact with my camera and like I said mess around a little. Hopefully when I can be bothered to actually venture out of the house I can go take some proper photographs.

Essay Talk

Sadly before my first year of university is complete I must write an essay from one of our five given essay titles. At the moment I am either going to be doing;
Discuss the differences between Modernist and Postmodernist design Or
With reference to Graphic design identify and discuss the key characteristics of Postmodernism.
The essay has only got to be about 2,000 words long with your standard harvard referencing with illustrations and images included. In all honesty I'm feeling a bit nervous about writing this essay, I don't tend to write a lot of  essays or papers on this course so my confidence levels for it are pretty low.  Never the less I am going to try must best and luckily my flatmate is also doing either one of the two essay titles I am so it will be good to have someone else in the flat thats in the same situation as me.
So in a little while we're going to pop down to the library and check out the books and search the depths of the internet or notes. Time to start some serious preparation.

Untitled

Gave myself the weekend off from uni work before starting my essay monday, spent the evening watching films and just basically making a mess of my desk.
I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with it yet or even what the purpose of it was but yeah..

Mutant Beauty

There isn't really "hidden meaning" or real reason for these, They were just something I did on late night when I couldn't sleep an is something that I'm also planning to do a small collection of. Let me know what you think.

Photography Exam 2010

Back in my first year of college I did an AS Level in photography which I must say was an amazing opportunity and based my final project on my friends family farm. Half of the photography was done on film and processed in the dark room and the other was digital.
I had a lot of fun taking the pictures as well processing them and proper film photography is something that I would love to get back into doing. The university as great resources and I think I need to start taking advantage of that. These are a few of my favourite film images.

A copy of the final image I gave to the Richards family to say thank you for helping.
   We were all given a photographer picked out of a hat and I remember being really pleased that I had gotten Bill Brandt. I'm such a fan of his social photography and therefore this is why I chose to do my own on the farm. My friends family were really happy to help and think they actually quite enjoyed being photographed for a couple hours. I honestly think that a few of these photographs are some of my best work, really pleased with the way that exam went.

The Beach

This was a photo shoot I really enjoyed doing and am still really happy with the way all my images came out. I believe these were taking in February 2011 at Thorpness. I think another of my friends was actually filming for a media project and I took the opportunity to get a few rolls of films done. I can't remember which camera I used as I don't currently have it with me at uni but the colours and tones came out amazingly. I am going to have to try and make another trip back there in the summer and shoot another couple of rolls, such a beautiful place to photograph, very peaceful.

Burning the evidence (old work)

This was some experimental work I did a while back. I was curious to see what would happen if I burnt some photographs, might be an idea to carry this on and perhaps produce a series of them...

Blast from the past

I'v been thinking recently I haven't really gotten much new work to upload and thought I might upload a few old pieces that I've produced this year and such. I'm hoping that by doing this it will give me a few more ideas of some new stuff to create in the future. Also I think it's a good idea to have it stored up somewhere online so that I can always come back to it later or even just to be able to look back on and see what progress I've made and such.
So in the next few days while I have a little time before I need to start my essay I should be uploading a few bits and bobs.

Final Animation.

As I had said earlier I have been working on getting my animation finished for one of my final uni projects of the year and here it is.
I'm not going to lie and say that I am really happy with it because I'm not completely, I'd been having quite a few little problems with it lately and this is the best I could do with the time I had left. It's a bit out of time, but after effects wasn't wanting to co operate with me yesterday and I was at the end of my tether.
If I could go back and change it I think that I would because there are a lot of things I would change. I think that making an animation is something that I want to go back to and try again because I feel that now I've gotten to grips with software. But yeah, here it is in its entirety of 22 seconds ahaa.
The song is Sun by Caribou and is made of 216 images.

Update,

Its been a while since I've uploaded anything on here which is terrible so this is basically a low down of whats what;

Basically most of my time at the moment has been spent trying to finish my animation for uni which is due friday and then I will be starting my essay which I am completely unprepared for.
At first I was finding after effects completely time consuming, confusing and difficult but after a few sessions at uni I think I'm slowly getting to grips with it and with that am feeling quite optimistic about the final outcome.
Apart from that I haven't really had much time to do anything else creative but have been having quite a few little ideas of projects which I'm really looking forward to trying out during the summer holidays. I've gotten myself a little journal and am currently using it to note down any ideas, thoughts I have and just random little doodles and such that I do.
 Obviously I have also been out having a life outside this animation but yeah, hopefully I will have more photographs and pieces of work and stuff to upload soon.
